Deputy Tovar has been with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office for over 10 years now. He began his law enforcement career in February 1998 as a Detention Officer assigned to the Jail Annex. He was appointed to Deputy Sheriff in 2001 by the late Sheriff Leo Samaniego.
As a patrolman, Deputy Tovar carried out his duties as a Field Training Officer. He is a current member of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team & in March 2008 was assigned as the Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer.
Deputy Tovar has an Instructor Proficiency License & is a Certified Advanced Master Public Information Officer.
