UPDATE-SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO A RESIDENTIAL FIRE IN VINTON, TX

EL PASO, TX- Sunday afternoon, on 12-18-11 at approximately 1:50 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Chisom, Vinton, TX, in reference to a house fire.
Sheriff’s Deputies, West Valley Fire Department and one Life Ambulance Unit arrived on scene to see a double wide mobile home engulfed in flames. Family members inside the residence were evacuated, however, surrounding residents were not affected. The fire was contained within approximately 1 hour. A Fire Inspector was summoned to the seen to determine the cause of fire. However, there is no suspicion of arson at this time.
According to family members, a loud “Pop” was heard from within the home. When family members went to verify the noise they saw a fire had progressed. An approximate nine family members reside at the home. No injuries were reported from the fire. The homeowners are not insured for their loss and The Red Cross was notified.
The entrance to Hickory Rd. was blocked off temporarily, however, vehicles were later able to travel onto Hickory St. but not further than the 400 block of Chisom.
UPDATE: The cause of the fire remained undetermined due to the smoke and water damage. The total estimated damage to the interior and exterior of the home was approximately $125,000.
