EL PASO COUNTY, TX- Late Thursday night, 08-19-10 at 11:45 PM, a Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area of Sparks attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Blue Ford Explorer near the intersection of Jeremiah and Peyton (traffic offense). The driver continued driving on Jeremiah until finally pulling over at the 12800 block of Jeremiah. As the Explorer came to a stop, the Sheriff’s Deputy observed the vehicle was occupied by only the driver when suddenly the driver threw a white unknown item out of the front right passenger window. The Sheriff’s Deputy made contact with the driver and noticed he was nervous & evasive of questions asked of him. The driver asked the Deputy repeatedly to give him a break. The Deputy proceeded to check the item the driver had thrown on the ground & saw it was a white sock lying on the ground. After examining the sock, the Deputy found several clear plastic baggies containing a white powdery substance which later tested positive for cocaine. In total, the sock consisted of 60 bindles of cocaine weighing approximately 38 grams. The driver also gave the Deputy a fictitious name & was later identified as was identified as ALBERTO LOPEZ (33) of the 1900 block of Lake Omega El Paso County, TX.
