EL PASO COUNTY, TX- Early this Wednesday morning August 18, 2010 at 11:15 am, Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of I-10 East Mile Marker 2 to a single vehicle roll-over with injuries. Deputies arrived on scene to discover a 2 year-old female child was ejected.
Further investigation revealed a 1998 Gold Ford Explorer driven by a 35 year-old female was traveling east on I-10 approaching mile post 2 when the right rear tire tread became unraveled causing the driver to veer right & over correct left impacting with the median guideline wires. At that instance the Ford explorer rolled (how many times yet to be determined) where a 2 year-old female child who was seating in her child seat (unknown if unrestrained) was ejected about 10 feet as the vehicle came to a rest facing west near the eastbound lanes of traffic.
The Ford Explorer was also occupied by a 39 year-old female front passenger & a 20 year-old male rear passenger. All occupants were transported by ambulance to University Medical Center for further treatment. All occupants were identified as follows:
Driver: Eulalia Macias (35) suffered serious injury (severe laceration to neck & arm)
Front Passenger: Ernestina Macias (39) – non-life threatening injuries
Rear Passenger: Santiago Gutierrez (20) – non-life threatening injuries
Child - Rear Passenger: Melanie Macias (2) – non-life threatening injuries / birthday was yesterday 08/17.
