1st EVER JOINT YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY DEEMED A HUGE SUCCESS!!
EL PASO, TEXAS- Over the last 2 weeks (July 12-23), the 1st ever combined Youth Police Academy coordinated by the El Paso Police Department & the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office took place at the Sheriff’s Office Region VIII Training Academy. The program was deemed a HUGE success as teens ranging from 13-17 years of age got an in depth perspective of the 2 premier law enforcement organizations from in El Paso, TX.
There were 82 teens (40 Session I / 42 Session II) that attended the Youth Academy. The kids learned from all areas in law enforcement such as Penal Code, Use of Force, Gangs, Drugs, Taser, Search & Rescue, SWAT, Juvenile Investigations, Patrol, Special Traffic Investigations, Crime Scene, EPPD / EPCSO Explorers & the Detention bureau which included a tour of the Downtown Detention Facility & Jail Annex.
