EVENT:  MAN TASERED AT QUINCEAÑERA AFTER BECOMING COMBATIVE WITH SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES

RESULT:  ARREST MADE - Investigation Continues

Taser VINTON, TX-  Late Sunday night 06-06-10 at about 11:00 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies working off-duty security (Quinceañera) at 141 E. Vinton in El Paso TX (La Embajada Hall) were directed by patrons to the middle of the dance floor where a subject was becoming confrontational starting fights with other people. As Deputies made contact with the subject, they noticed he was highly intoxicated. The subject immediately became aggressive & belligerent towards authorities. Deputies were trying to talk & calm the subject but he refused to obey their verbal instructions. The subject suddenly started swinging punches at Deputies. A Sheriff’s Deputy then tasered the subject as the crowd (family members) started becoming confrontational with the Deputies. Sheriff’s Deputies called for immediate support where responding Deputies arrived on scene and were able to calm the crowd before anything else escalated. The combative subject was taken into custody without further incident. The Deputies were initially pointed to the dance floor by the subjects family members who cooperated after additional units arrived.

The subject who was identified as ROGELIO SOLIS (28) of the 1600 block of Fiesta El Paso, TX was charged with PUBLIC INTOXICATION & RESISTING ARREST. He was booked and remains at the El Paso County Detention facility.
